This landmark global agreement was adopted in New York on 7 July 2017.
.In 2017, ICAN was awarded the Nobel Peace Prize. The Norwegian Nobel Committee said it awarded our campaign this price “for its work to draw attention to the catastrophic humanitarian consequences of any use of nuclear weapons and for its ground-breaking efforts to achieve a treaty-based prohibition of such weapons”.
ICAN is a broad, inclusive campaign, focused on mobilizing civil society around the world to support the specific objective of negotiating a global nuclear weapon ban treaty. The ICAN international structure consists of partner organizations, an international steering group and an international staff team.
It has 468 partners in 100 countries.
